Finding Your True Fit: A Sizing Guide for Ethnic Wear

Sizing in ethnic wear works a little differently than everyday western wear — the flare, embroidery placement, and draping all affect how a size fits compared to a standard chart. Here's how to get it right the first time.

Start With Your Bust/Chest Measurement

Most Anarkali, Chanderi, and Palazzo suits are cut to flare from the bust downward, which means your chest measurement is the single most important number. If you're between two sizes, always size up rather than down — a slightly loose bodice drapes better than one that pulls or gapes at the seams.

How to Measure Yourself at Home

1. Chest/Bust: Measure around the fullest part, keeping the tape snug but not tight.
2. Waist: Measure at your natural waistline, usually just above the navel.
3. Hip: Measure around the fullest part of your hips.
4. Length (for palazzos/bottoms): Measure from your natural waist to your ankle.

Keep the tape parallel to the floor and avoid pulling it too tight — a common mistake that results in ordering a size smaller than you actually need.

Reading Our Size Chart

Our Measurements Size (True Fit) system is built to reflect how the garment actually sits on the body, not just a generic size label. Always check the linked size chart matrix on the product page before choosing, since fit can vary slightly between silhouettes — an Anarkali and a Palazzo suit in the "same" size won't necessarily fit identically due to their different cuts.

What To Do If You're Between Sizes

• Flared silhouettes (Anarkali, Sharara): Size up. The flare accommodates the extra room comfortably, and a tighter bodice is harder to alter.
• Fitted silhouettes (fitted kurtas, some Palazzo tops): Consider your usual preference — if you like a closer fit, your measured size is usually right; if you prefer breathing room, size up.

A Note on Alterations
